I had rants on current events, but um, I am not sure I can do it right.

In the shower, I tend to think coherantly of good arguments for the war in Iraq and how even that doesn't make fully convinced because I am not certain that the aftermath will dealt with right. I thought of good and bad stuff individual French folks did in WWII while working. I debate with myself: here I am, believing that neglect of the poor and oppressed will bring on if not punishment in the afterlife, but punishment now. What makes me different from Falwell and Robertson blaming 9/11 on gays, the ACLU, etc.? I thought of supersession, Israel and an alternate history of a Moroccan Muslim and a French Jew discussing sovereignity, a Jewish homeland, and other things, arguing against the idea that one religion negates the preceding two (how do you do it, and will different subgroups of Muslims listen? And who is more likely to?) and dealing with poverty, camps and basically doing one method of short-circuiting the process of recruiting more terrorists. I wish I had the article that suggested that. Do something that the Arab Muslim nations aren't doing. Of course, it is one way, and not the only right way.

I am thinking of all the things that influenced the projects I am working on.

Literature: War of the Oaks, Soliders of the Night, Dawn Song, They Fought Back, Celtic folklore, HP Lovecraft
Music: New wave, that VNV Nation band the kids are listening to (I am so embarrassed), shoegazer pop, the Cure, Boston bands, Edith Piaf, Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, Killing Joke, industrial, Celtic folk, Oingo Boingo
TV and movies: Anime magical girls, Buffy, Amelie, the Matrix
Roleplaying Games (I admit it): Changeling, Unknown Armies
Real Life: Friends' memories of the North Shore, memories of the 80s, reaction against overdosing on overly optimistic spirituality and disgust with strictly-sweetness and light idea of angels (oh, they are that, but there's more), goths I knew, geeks I knew, the dot com bubble, interest in neuroscience, interest in information processing, grad school ambitions, anger about current events, Golden Dawn.

And you know, I ought to watch Boiler Room, Is Paris Burning and Sleepy Hollow. Any good movies about suburbia and the 80s? Should I stick to reruns of Square Pegs?
