I never really did anything deeper than write down tasks I could do and some how-to links for different professions.

On another note, a housemate let me borrow a fan, since my old fan is in one of the bins somewhere far back.

I have a lot of paper to type up. So, I went looking for any possible advice or tools or whatever.

In a way it is. However, I like to brainstorm ideas by putting two words together and trying to connect them. There are WordNet interfaces that do just that, using a thesaurus-based vocabulary with their own lexical relations. Some of the concepts I would like to explore, however, are closer to using a definition-based vocabulary.

So I wanted to mix definitions of different archetypes with other concepts. That is, if I mix 'trickster' with 'sibling', what would come to mind?

I imagine I will be adding links or at least text I got somewhere else to this.

I had thought of combining the two in some way. I don't know, job interview from hell, or what people giving job search advice do not know about.

I have to go through these links and summarize all the job search advice I ever received. You know, the books I have, the flyers, things like that.

Quick outline:

Resumes, so do I have an objective here, or not?
Cover letters, is this time to critique the job description here?
Portfolios, why don't they look, darnit?
Asking friends for help, why is it so terrifying?

I will need to remove "From Jesus with Love" since I am out of touch with collaborator and haven't done anything new.

"A Little Death"? Well, I have no idea if I want to continue with that. I haven't touched it in years, I lost interest, and I feel bad that I did not want to incorporate the changes the illustrator said were necessary. I like to think I am adaptable, so I feel bad about it. At the same time, it is not just my work.

Birch Circle is still stalled, but in my head.

Then there is the 'self for employers/clients' and 'self for friends' split. I do not want to make anyone a target for lawsuits or make them feel uncomfortable. Some of what I did and what I link to is NSFW, and others are just not 'serious' enough for business. Yet, I did put effort and time in them, and can I say it, I am proud. I am proud of my original fiction as I am about the crackfic, and as proud of my fiction as well as my classes in natural language processing.

Oh, and add classwork from the natural language processing course. Not sure about the programs, though. They just don't run, and I have no idea if it will do terrible things to computer systems if they do run. Not because I put logic bombs deliberately, but because of Murphy's Law.

I also have a rant on why Murphy's Law is why the humanities are valuable for scientists, programmers and engineers to learn. Mathematicians are exempt, since their field is that ancient. :)

I got this from some article whose name I forgot. I was wondering 'core competencies' were, really. So, I asked the search engine, and this was one of the answers.

I made a whole series of questions from that article. If I can find it, I can post it as a poll. I may make a poll asking if any of these 'core competencies' play any role in your job. Not just paying full-time gigs, but part-time, volunteering, and any long-term projects involving other people. Like say, marriages, house ownership, or parenting :).

It is also normal to feel that I fit almost none of these standards, right?

OK, so inspired by this site, I will post ideas that I still have not worked on in public sites. I will reprint it in my LinkedIn account (within reason) along with what I already have set public posts to do.
