Nov. 9th, 2005 08:55 pmHi:
Food shopping is weirdly comforting for me. I ended carrying all the groceries home though. I measured them, and it turned out I carried 18.5 pounds.
I have to stop yanking the tips of my hair (never whole strands). I even tried clipping hair with split ends, but that took longer than I thought.
I'm doing the bowling thing on my birthday, but I have to call and rent a lane first. Also, I am not sure what people want to do for food. There is food there, and it's standard Italian sandwiches and pizzas.
I was late three times this week. Oh well, I am working late.
It doesn't make my day reading some letter to the editor making the riots in France seem like proof that 'all them Islams' are fundamentalists and will never intergrate. Totally wrung out of any context of, oh, joblessness, police brutality, being raised in France but not considered French, along with Islamists urging disengagement (sometimes outright war) with secular society. Because when no one is admitting to the club, any club looks good. Completely yoinked the events in Chechnya, I/P, Afghanistan too. See, the guy was implying some literalist group mind (and lets face it, some folks are surprised when Christian literalists don't agree on stuff). It pisses me off the same why folks go on about 'pro-Israel people controlling our government OMG!!1!!"
I got my own complaints about neo-conservatives, policies of the State of Israel, Islamists, social conservatives (economic conservatives I take on a case-by-case basis), and religious literalists and fanatics of many types*. However, I tend to assume that they are not the only problem.**
If there is one commonality among different people (aside from mortality), it's the capacity to do really dumb shit.
(Also, the guy had a Spanish name. *sarcasm on* No one ever stereotypes people with Spanish names, or howl about them not asslimiating***.
*-I'd include the nuttier fringes of Harry/Hermione shipping, but they aren't running for office, starting wars or blowing up buildings.
**-'Brotherhood of man' is the most inaccurate phrase ever. Have these people met actual siblings?
***-And now I am hearing "We are ze Borg Francaise, you will be assilimated."

Oct. 27th, 2005 09:12 pmIt feels good to come home after a brisk walk from getting vanilla seltzer. It feels good to find out that there is yellow curry base and coconut milk I can use to make a nice dinner. It feels good to find a magazine in my mailbox and smell cooling bread made for Saturday tea. The present moment is just as nice as planning a jaunt of informational interviews/touring that may or may not happen next year.
I have several hours to go for work. Wish me well.

Aug. 16th, 2005 09:03 pmI slept early yesterday, mainly because of a headache plaguing me all that day. All that really got me was waking up to see a sunrise peeking out.
But I had a good night that night and tonight. I made myself steak tips (that was on sale), brocolli, an attempt at grilled peppers, onions, and mushrooms, tomatoes and baby spinach. I threw them all together in a salad. It was pretty good. The leftovers were my lunch and supper. I learned that with some pans that needed washing, I could cook.
I got a call for a customer service position. Actually, more of a technical support position for a company that runs a variety of people search (roommates, dates, etc) websites. It might be interesting.
I tried to get that darn 2-variable intelligence test, but I keep getting a 503.

Jun. 19th, 2005 04:55 pmYesterday: I did not get to swim, but I got to spend time with people, see a band and see fire-spinning. Someone gave his business card when I expressed interest in learning it. I got a ride home from
happyfunpaul and hugs and advice from people.
Today: I tried two different sort of brownies. One was fat-free and made with yogurt. I much perfer the 'bad for me' version.
