May. 25th, 2004 12:07 pmSo, waking up tired and sick, I called in sick for work. May not be best since there is a lot of work and I got to go to my psychiatrist appointment and dinner with friends Friday.
Today, I am being overwhelmed by the joys of Robohelp. My instincts toward making things easier to find is to break up the definitions into seperate pages. I am wondering if bookmarks to the definitions work as well. I mean, this is the index we are talking about. Because if I break them up, that will mean a whole other books to create and new pages to make, text to copy and paste. I wonder if I can make it all a macro. Also, linking to the definition pages in the biographies: good idea, but how much work?
Edit: Bookmarks for biographies are linked. One problem: there are terms that I think should be in the index, but are pain in the ass as bookmarks. I mean, how many people search by typing in the Arabic variant of Maronite? Maybe I should stick to bookmarks for words mentioned in the biography and other sheets.
Plus, short definitions in parthensis or in text-only pop-up? Which one is more helpful. Edit: not the pop-ups I thought they were. Move on.
I got thirteen days before my demo expires. I have to make a nice, new, and easy to use help file for my big Unknown Armies backstory. This is to demonstrate 1) initiative, 2) proficiency in RoboHelp, and 3) ability to explain unfamiliar concepts, which can be applied not just to technology.
Crack? Don't mind if I do.
