Someone is trying to patent a storyline, or at least announcing plans to do so. It made me think of this:

Comic book guy: Question: is your name Ridley Scott or James Cameron?

Homer: No, it's Homer.

Comic book guy: Then I would thank you to stop peering at my screenplay, _Homer_. And if I see a movie where computers threaten our personal liberties, I will know you have stolen my idea.

Homer: But I'm just waiting for my kid. [thinking] Mental note -- steal his idea.

I mean, with all the effort and money he is putting into that, why doesn't he use his idea and er, write a book/make a movie/draw a comic? You can copyright that (I Am Not a Lawyer, and thus do not know the details). Geeez.

Of course, I could be scoffing at the future. Better get a patent for my idea of two stranded biologists repopulating a planet while falling in love with each other. I got a doozy of an ending for it too: "And their names were Adam and Steve."

Oh, and my roommates are holding a bonfire for Guy Fawkes Day.
