taratemima1) Any resentful schnook with a web server can make a difference if they go after the advertising. It may look goofy compared to hijackings, bombings, and kidnappings. However, it scares me in a different and hard-to-articulate way.
2) Just because abuse of power and sporadic and arbitrary enforcement of rules are expected doesn't mean they should be tolerated.
3) If I really want to keep from getting BANZ0R3D from a social network, I should get my own server space, perhaps built from abandoned hardware around student residences and powered by gerbils. Just means I lose the social network bit.
4) When the smoke clears, it is unlikely that any real pedophiles were purged. [Insert nasty MySpace crack here]
5) Some local music critic looked at a protest by a 'large Christian group' against 50 Cent wearing a cross. Turned out they weren't that big, were Illuminati conspiracy theorists, and thought 50 Cent was their tool. I think he is a tool, but not the tool of the Illuminati. Lesson learned for any PR student: before wetting pants over protests against large and glittery targets, check and see big and shiny object they think they are really up against.
6) Never mind alternative journals (necronomist at journalfen). How about we revive pen pals? Like by snail mail? No, wait, the US Postal Service might read it. Or we could call. Oops, no, no idea if intelligence agencies actually stopped monitoring the phone calls of everyone in the country ("I said Al Cooper, not al-Qaeda. I am not plotting anything vaguely terrorist like. I just want to get a gas bill straighten out. God bless America.").
