Katie Baker, sketches

taratemimaWell, I had this idea of a Harry Potter self-insertation named Katie Baker. A character like me, shy, insecure, writes constantly her thoughts, who made a big mistake back in this Oxford University-like university of magic, involving rumors, her following the wrong sort of crowd, and academic prohibition. For a summer job, she's a library assistant for Hogwarts. Somehow, a senior from her college is now a Professor of the Dark Arts. She learns to face her fears, face up to the choices she made out of ignorance and learns to make better choices. See, she really didn't get much magical training until approximately age 14, with her acceptance letter to Archimoros, New Jersey's premiere high school of wizardry (yes, she's American).
Now, here's the thing. I want to have a solid story involving the regulars and a damn serious threat, instead of it just being Katie with some regulars popping in. I want to involve copy editing and Hermoine with a textbook with seriously deadly mistakes somehow, maybe as a subplot. I want most of the action on the regulars and Katie to be mainly an interesting minor character.
I'm going to need to read all the books, I guess.
