Jun. 26th, 2002 10:23 pmThe compulsory birth activists, er, I mean, pro-lifers, were holding up gory pictures of dead babies printed "Why should God bless America?" (Shades of Falwell and Robertson) I look at declarations of God's enduring interest in blessing the US with some skepticism, but why isn't God punishing the Netherlands or Sweden harder for their 'ambominations?' Does God have a soft spot for ABBA or something? They were along Comm Ave, obviously because that's on the way to the Planned Parenthood clinic ('Butchers of mankind'--ooooh, so many things I could say about that), all the better to keep from getting arrested for trespassing and to be bugging the crowds going to see the Red Sox. How dare they think of baseball, those Bostonian heathens?
But, alas, for the lack of cardboard and courage, I didn't make my own signs.
"Abortion--if it's good enough for pro-lifers, it's good enough for everyone else."
"Every sperm is sacred, but women's lives are not."
"I have non-procreative sex, and I vote."
But, I have another novel project to work on with an old friend, and Conrad and I will try to see Minority Report again, and I will see Vulfel next week, and Mateusz has a job again.
Please, let me do well on that second interview.
