Sep. 11th, 2001 03:45 pmThe West Bank celebration shown on the news looks staged, prolly by stringers who do not like Arafat. Sunni retaliation against talk of sharing powers with Hamas? Then again, it's prolly like "Free food, and people we've been told are pure evil blown up, even if that means some schmucks who just happened to work there! Whee!" All this is talk, and I could be wrong.
The Taliban claim no involvement, although Bin Laden is in Afghanistan, and it looks very much like the handiwork of an Bin Laden associate who was convicted of the first WTC bombing. It is very hard for me to tangle the innocent from the guilty from the Arab nations--admittedly, the first thought that came out was "They have offically gone fucking nuts. Individuals may be kind, generous, fulfilling the best intentions of their religion, but they are being shouted down and shot down by opportunistic fanatics." I hear reports of different people in the West Bank being shot as 'collabroators,' of an economy failing from war. This hatred of US and Israel, while there are some things wrong with their conduct, is used to distract citizens of the Arab nations from the fact that their government sucks. I'd really like to know what American Muslims are saying about this. The hijackers did not just take out themselves and the folks in the Twin Towers, but also people who just wanted to get somewhere else.
Fox News apparently cannot get away from blaming Clinton as the source of all evil. A lot of blame can be divided between three past presidents, the appointed one, the CIA, the FBI, Logan Airport (the spokesperson looked quite bewildered by it, unable to talk about how the hijackers could have gotten in). I don't know. James Baker appeared on one of the news stations, blaming the constraints on human intelligence, not being able to assassinate certain people, not being able to penetrate groups. Hey, look at great we did with the Black Panthers without all those handcuffs. *eyeroll* I am not sure whether this is a civil liberties nightmare.
I admit though, if I could find some way of leaking information on groups like them, I would volunteer. The problem I heard is that since their training is so intense, agents sometimes got brainwashed and turned against their employers.
I haven't been able to contact different people I know in North Virginia, Maryland and NYC. Hell, one person I know lives in Manhattan. I am not sure if I should e-mail. Good God, I hope they are okay.
If anyone cares, my graduation has been cancelled. I will get my diploma in the mail and all, and there will a reception on a later date.
