At the stock holding company I work at, I sometimes get religious tracts along with the proxy vote cards. Why the individuals do that, I don't know. It always looked like hard sell of the worst kind, even when I was a Catholic. If your faith makes you happy, let your life be an advertisement, not some piece of paper.

I had thought often of sending a tract of my own, full of quotations deparging wealth or at least keeping a tidy stock protofolio. Storing up treasures on earth instead of treasures in heaven, indeed! But, it seems useless to argue from beliefs I no longer have, and addresses and comments are meant to be confidental, and sending them a tract would break that confidentality.

And don't get me started on this one guy using Biblical quotes to justify drilling in Alaska.

I am not sure I want to go to my writing group, I haven't typed the chapters and the head of the group is clumsily hitting on me, and I have no clue what is the best way to keep the partnership, be able to talk about our work, while making it clear that I am not interested in him (or his politics, but that's another rant. Suffice to say, why are right-wing military history buffs the very sort who never served in the armed forces or seen war? Not that I am a battle-scarred vet or anything . . . oh I better stop before I start ranting).
