Nov. 1st, 2002 01:07 amI spent my Halloween listening to music samples and inwardly cheering people in costume, even if I did the costume thing last weekend. I also got chocolate as well as sushi and salad. I cannot trick or treat anymore, but I can buy my own candy.
Tomorrow, I have the day off, and will use it to call NU to change my address, call another student loan place to change my address, talk to Arik and the guy I am collabrating with on a novel. Will need to look into a chiropractor and a nutritionist and referrences for therapy.
Perhaps, after that, I will actually work on a plan for conversion. I assume I'd lose interest after 3 years, and it will be like I was in the 'religion of the month club,' as one person at UMass joked. But I still keep coming back to it, despite the (mis)applications of the accounts of the war with the Canaanites, the things that contradict my understanding of biology, neuroscience, psychology, etc. Because I find that there is a lot that is useful for me. Not for everyone else, but for me. I am reading this section on altered states of consciousness. Eric Siegel (I think that is his name) derived four basic shapes hallucinations start from. After a certain amount of time, they turn into shapes familiar to the individual. Maybe this can be applied to what I was saying. I don't know where I was going with it.
