Apparently, me being a rude bastard, even to a simulated French accountant, makes me upset. I am not comfortable saying stuff like "I will not stand for this insult," never mind typing it. However, I aced negiotations with the German representatives. Be direct? Give facts and figures? Will do! Punctual? Eh, I have to work on that one. I am suspicious of 'national characteristics;' it's not the just a matter of prejudice, I wonder how much the individual decides on what characteristics to emulate and what characteristics to distance themselves from.

(Eh, don't ask. There are some other on-line courses I ought to be taking but I am not sure what)

I am glad that I am not the only one having trouble with Yahoo.

Is it bad that I want to fill the fandom ship survey going with my original characters? Yes, I am my own BNF.

To the three people on my friends list who graduated or will graduate ([livejournal.com profile] amythyst, [livejournal.com profile] tafkar and [livejournal.com profile] lone_gunfreak), congratulations and good luck.

Why do you read my LJ? What attracted you to my LJ in the first place?

Put this up in your LJ. If you answer mine, I will make every effort to do the same for you. :)

Wow. I am so not faking being socially clueless and awkward. I guess it is all a plot to, er, get assistance when I have a steady job and only seeked outside help to get a better one?

I actually know someone who had electro-convulsive therapy. See, he was diagnosed as seriously depressed, to the point he had a couple of nervous breakdowns. Had been on several anti-depressants. He had normal periods, but they got fewer and fewer. Most of the time, he would not get out of bed. He says he feels better after ECT, but has memory problems. He is currently going to school and working as an intern. It is something that doctors seem to not want to do right away. Hell, my psychiatrist didn't want to up my Wellbutrin dosage (I don't either) until he is sure.

See, here's the thing. As horrified as I am about the goings on in Abu Gharib, I am glad that 1) most military are just as horrified and 2) people want to call to carpet various branches of the government for it. There are things that could be done (whose not being charged again?). The mark of a functioning system is the ability to call out abuse within. There are times I do and do not see it in the US government and the psychological community.

I definitely don't see that in a certain sue-happy cult.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] xenu_rocks. Those who know of my Unknown Armies thingy know why I am so interested.

(Some troll was rambling about 'if a Spanish person looks at you, they don't have a disorder.' It got me to thinking: are the symptoms of AS cross-cultural? What do parents in different cultures observe when looking at children who don't seem to act 'social?' Can Spanish NT can modulate their behavior when they realize that Americans have a wider physical boundary? Or does the Spanish NT keep their behaviors, assuming its the Americans who have the problem? Is it actually easier for people on the autistic spectrum to pick up social cues from other cultures than their own, since they do not assume that their perferred social skills are the way it is and anyone who does differently is wrong? Are lack of eye contact, abrupt changes in conversation, etc disconcerting enough in cultures where the social cues are different?)
