Sunday, I went to see an exhibition Art Deco objects. Art Deco is one of my favorite art movements, even though it is more commercial design, oh, why am I making a distingistion? It is all beautiful and eclectic and sleek and 'nothing modern without tradition and nothing traditional without being modern.' We also see a Czech photographer named Josef Sudek who specialized in intimate black-and-white photos of his surroundings. Even the smallest things like flowers, a view to a garden, eggs and glasses of water took a bigger meaning. He also did some panoramic photos. We went for pizza and I went to bed late.

Today--I found out if you type your major in the company search engine, you find interesting things. Like a department head who graduated with a degree in computional linguistics. After I look up some projects involving neural networks and text mining done by the company and the firms they worked with, I think I will contact him.

It may not be so hard to convince the company to pay for an advanced degree in my major after all.

Oh, and all your wish lists. I've got to gather your lists and see what I can, then I'll post it.

I also got my own response to a post about affirmative action, myths, and the big problem about hiring people and admitting them to college: people have no clue what makes a good employee or student, so they either go with people they 'know' or go with systems they 'know.'
