This guy thinks that girls would never be superheroes or villains.

Reminds me of a guy who thought women would never have been pirates.

(Which reminds me of the 'OMG men never angst' statement in some discussion on slash. Um, so most of my music collection was made by stoic, unfeeling men, then?)

I'll quote from both authors swotting both of the fools.

Why shouldn't middle-aged mothers get a wish-fulfillment character, you sad little bigot? Everyone else does. H.L. Mencken once wrote that "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats." I can't think of anyone to whom that applies more than my own mom, and the mothers on my friends list, with the incredible demands on time and spirit they face in their efforts to raise their kids, preserve their families, and save their own identity/sanity into the bargain.

I am a geek. I have rehearsed world domination monologues while shaving my legs. I have finely tuned plans for what I will do if I fall into a vat of radioactive waste and emerge with superstrength. And I am just as entitled to my self-indulgent adolescent power fantasies as any male comic book nerd.

You are not entitled to speak for my imagination, Scipio. Step the fuck off.

Anybody can do bad stuff.

Anyone can do good stuff.

I can think of one thing only one gender can do, and there are plenty of MPreg tales asking us to suspend disbelief in that.
