Fandom: Harry Potter
Character Name: Sidonie Malfoy
Brief background of character: The summer of PoA (approximately), a Deatheater accidently conjures something that feeds off light. Something that seems headed straight for Draco, spending a quiet summer at his ancestoral home. He is rapidly packed off to London to meet a distant relative of his, someone who might know someone to get rid of this vague menace. He imagines a great wizard. He gets a Squib who seems to know everyone in Muggle and Wizard London. Her name is Sidonie.
Character's position or job: Mostly unemployed, with late nights DJing in dark and scary night clubs, spinning goth and industrial. Living by odd jobs, since she rather not have her name on the dole queues.
Strengths/Skills: Persuaive, clever, large music collection, able to go with the mood of the crowd.
Are these skills typical of the fandom? If not, why?: Since she is a Squib, she has no magicial powers, but they might be skills of a Muggle in a 'cool' subculture. Her skills are atypical in what she doesn't have.
Weaknesses/Bad habits: Withering sarcasm. Smoking. Secretly isn't sure where she belongs, so she rarely has close friends in the wizard or subcultural. Vague sense of family honor and obligation despite being treated as a 'poor relation' and a 'Muggle Lover' weighs on her, even as she pretends she has no cares. Opportunistic.
Distinctive features, if any: Platinum blond pageboy hair, grey eyes, slender with a pointed chin and small nose, often in a black tank top, baggy black shorts (to her knees) and big combat boots. When cold, she wears a khaki peacoat.
Are these features unique in the fandom? If so, why?: More common to the subculture she hangs out in, but no, wizards don't dress like that. Since she isn't, she doesn't care.
Connections to canon characters (if any): Third cousin twice removed of Draco Malfoy
How does your character get on with those around him/her?: She argues often with twelve year old Draco, drags him to find help (even if she isn't sure if she should) and subjects him to her music. Can be sweet or cranky depending on what she senses the person is looking for.
Fandom: Ragnanok
Character Name: Miriam Plastrow
Brief background of character: A probate lawyer in Los Angeles, she takes cases from vampires with unique property issues. A vampire named Tim Burton (this is AU, folks) asks her to help him recover a painting of his of a consumpative girl. Her parents are Polish-Jewish and Cuban. In her spare time, enjoys anime, Pocky, and Ofra Haza.
Character's position or job: Specialist in probate law in private practice
Strengths/Skills: Strong researcher, runs on the power of her convictions, relentless in helping her clients.
Are these skills typical of the fandom? If not, why?: Well, from what I gather, this is some of the things good lawyers need. Being that she is mortal, there is not really any strange skills she needs. What might be unusual is that she accepts vampires as citizens and as people, although she knows that there are those to be careful of. Much like the living.
Weaknesses/Bad habits: Sometimes neglects her appearance. Bad diet. Perfectionist. Stuttering. Not always confident of her appearance. Has vivid sexual fantasies of the bitten variety, which scare her.
Distinctive features, if any: Thick, curly dark brown hair to her shoulders, olive skin, contacts (though she wears glasses when home alone), deepset brown eyes, often with black circles.
Are these features unique in the fandom? If so, why?: Um, she is not stunningly beautiful, I don't know how common that is, but she would pass in a crowd.
Connections to canon characters (if any): Tim Burton's lawyer. Has a . . .history with Lisa Marie.
How does your character get on with those around him/her?: She is sympathetic but brisk. They are grateful for her help but a little scared by her intensity. She is shy and hestiant but melting with Lisa.
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Character Name: Razielleh Gottlieb
Brief background of character: After Faith, Kennedy, and a couple more Slayers, a new Slayer is chosen. Somehow, the Watcher's Council did not quite anticipate a non-snarky, not all that rebellious girl attending a girl's yeshiva in Memphis to be the one. They're pleased, just surprised. Then a teacher's scary secrets gets a nasty retribution from a demon, and it's her job to keep everyone's ducks in a row.
Character's position or job: High school student, attending an all-girls yeshiva. Gets a small amount of money from widowed father, but doesn't plan to take a job until she graduates, since she takes a lot of pride in doing superlative school work and after school activities.
Strengths/Skills: Athletic (plays basketball, though she dresses as modestly as outfits go), intelligent, is not frightened by the supernatural, able to stick to her principles even under opposition and even when inconvenient to her.
Weaknesses/Bad habits: Sometimes stereotypes people she personally hasn't had much contact with (which will be a problem when she meets Samira). Generally has the 'a good daughter' thing. Has grasped that being a Slayer is a lonely job, one that will kibosh any plans for marriage and children, and isn't sure if she likes that. Not as up on pop culture as the previous Slayers, and some of the things in pop culture that just slide by others annoy or disgust her. She's also not shy about telling people that.
Distinctive features, if any: Solid cheekbones, brown hair, olive skin, big brown eyes, dresses often in skirts and long-sleeved shirts (in lighter fabrics in summer). Carries a olive green backpack.
Are these features unique in the fandom? As far as I figure, they are common to her ethnic group, and not extremely head-turning.
Connections to canon characters (if any):Original characters of Buffy have since moved on to different things, although some of the previous Slayers are mentioned.
How does your character get on with those around him/her?: While often confused, takes direction from those she regards as her elders, which might get her into problems in the future.
