taratemimaI faltered near the last half hour of work. Wow, that I managed to be just be a mild zombie after four hours of interrupted sleep says something.
I realized that low carb fanatics :: me is a SAT analogy to vegans :: meat eaters. I could stand to get off my ass more, too.
I have this idea for a story, but it seems so clumsy.
Two private schools in Santa Monica, almost opposite approaches to education. They are holding ends of a dragon current (or some sort of ley line). Yeah, I cannot mixing my social commentary with the unreal.
They have opposite approaches to how to deal with the dragon current. One wants to slowly introduce its students to the current's power and have them learn to use it by themselves and teach others. The other wants to set the students through a series of rigorous tests of various qualities and then teach the select few that pass how to control it.
Something goes wrong for both of them, in radically different ways. One person fitzes out and freaks out the
connected others. Another person goes power mad and corrupts the connected others. There is war. Gnosticism may come into play, Native American mythos, as well as 'heavenly deception'/Leo Strauss or whatever. The narrator is a
representative of a religious school accreditation group (the one is kinda religious, started by a Buddhist that allows 'free expression of all beliefs,' and has a chapel). The ending I have in mind seems too lame to me: the dragon current speaks through the representative and says the current will decide who shall receive its power, not humans who have a lot to learn about the mind and motivations.
A sarcastic remark: "Forget about suspicious behavior; just shoot at what moves."
A time travel story idea: The girl who would kill Heidigger.

Hell, at one point, a Sue battles Harry Potter, the new Dark Lord. Funny, I always thought Neville would do that.
