taratemimaNo matter what skin color, Americans are the stupid, or at least that is what we say about ourselves. Now there is 'not getting enough information' and 'not even bothering knowing.'
Now is the usual question about stupid people and low expectations ("I never been in jail." "You're supposed to not go to jail!" "I take care of my kids." "You're supposed to take care of your kids, you low-expectations-having motherfucker!")
Now, is it the individual's fault or is it planned?
I say fuck it, get a library card and question everything. Then again to quote Molly Ivins, "Where would we be without an active core of selfless citizens constantly prepared to tell us we're dumb, fat and lazy, and it's all our fault?"
(Maybe because it is low-income Milton, but the kids my sister hang around with are pretty motivated and eager to learn, if not intellectual. Never heard 'the n word' from them. Oh, and about Standard American English--sometimes kids talk differently among each other. I don't know).
