Sep. 21st, 2004 07:58 pmThere is someone I haven't seen in a while, and let's just say that I think he needs me.
Unfortunately, I have a cold. I could barely keep my eyes open at work. The person I schedule a dinner with said that if I am still sick, we can reschedule.
But I can't see the other person until I get well.
Plus fandom + politics make me angry, not because of different views on hot button topics, but the thought of someone deciding to put guns and taxes above, say, securing a whole bunch of rights. Note I said above, not along with. Fortunately, this is not directed to anyone on the friends list. For the record, I don't unfriend people because of politics.
I'd put it on journalfen, where it is more appropriate, but I rather not have to deal with people who will assume that I am a pacifist in favor of 100% tax on income. For the record, while I am really not sure about registration, I would like guns to be treated like cars, with training and enforcement of laws and quick finding of stolen guns. I am no fan of assault rifles, but I can understand self defense and, while not my hobby, hunting. Taxes? I rather take it on a case by case basis and make sure the money is used efficiently to help others. This includes infrastructure, some social services and a certain amount of defense. I sort of moved from a moderate anarchist to someone who really isn't comfortable calling myself a liberal, but oh well.
I don't like the idea of people putting things over the rights of people. I am just as suspicious of people putting ideas over the rights of people, and that thends to put my own views through a strainer.
Meanwhile, I still feel sucky and unproductive.
