Nov. 11th, 2004 03:08 pmDon't you hate it when you see something that you generally agree with, but then you see the makings of an urban legend?
From No Longer a Christian:
"These unbelievable technologies are a reality and DNA specific weapons can or soon will target a specific nationality (http://www.arabicnews.com/ansub/Daily/Day/981116/1998111619.html)."
I remember hearing in the 90s vague stories of OMG bullets that target Palestinians!!111 From the link, it is damn vague and what is the fuck is the "Sunday Times" in the UK?
Plus, dude, common origin. I mean, I know of one study in a Jewish population sample that had common DNA between sons and fathers, but different patterns for mothers and daughters, suggesting some past exogamy (that's marrying someone outside the group). Assuming you can isolate certain sequences, you would still have to deal with hitting Yemenite Jewish folks.
Plus, this is only believable if you believe OMG they all want to k33l teh Arabs--geez, I use netspeak, but it freaking brings it out of me. There is a difference between disagreeing with the policies of the State of Israel and just having no critical thinking about any accusation that comes down the pike. Yikes.
If I saw in some other essay, I would chalk it to stupidity. Since I actually agree with her that "I was told in Sunday school the word "Christian" means to be Christ-like, but the message I hear daily on the airwaves from the 'christian' media are words of war, violence, and aggression. "
I smell bull, but there seems to be no reference to it in Snopes or Straight Dope.
