Would you believe I first read this in a post to Kabbalah-L? It puts another gloss to some recent events.
I got to go to a cookout, and everything was good, but one conversation brought me back to what was going on. See, a friend of mine works at a home care company, and is hearing a lot of complaints from the nurse practicians and physical therapists about Arab-American clients. "Why did we ever let them into our country anyway?" Probably to escape the fanatics that are bulldozing different Arab governments. By that logic, Irish-Americans are to blame for the IRA hard men, Whitey Bulger and Machine Gun Kelly.
"I'm sorry you're surrounded by assholes."
"It's not it. You don't get into health care to get rich. It just boggles my mind that someone in the 'caring professions' could say things like that," she says.
It really sucks that it won't be the guys instigating this that will suffer at all when we do go to war. I wish I could figure out a way to hurt them, not the random citizen, who will probably be driven into their arms when it happens. I wish I could figure it out, because the only thing I can think of writing letters and posting the link to the entry. Why the hell would anyone listen to me anyhow? My idea of patriotism is saying out loud "I love you, but you're going to do something foolish. Let me suggest something else."
