Thanks to Bridget, another survey
Dec. 5th, 2001 01:34 pmIs it CDs/tapes you have or band you like? Oh well, I've been listening to a limited range lately, but I like a lot more than three per letter.
I am blanking on bands--in a moment, will be filled.
All the Queen's Men; Alien Sex Fiend; Amos, Tori
Bauhaus; Bush, Kate; Barrett, Syd; Beatles; Babyland; Bad Religion; Black Tape for Blue Girl
Cave, Nick; Cohen, Leonard; Curve; The Chamleons, Cure; Curtain Society
Dax, Danielle; Dead Kennedys; Dead Can Dance, Delirium; Devo; Drake, Nick
Einsturzende Neubauten; Echo and Bunnymen
Front 242; The Fall; Fairport Convention; Faith and the Muse
Gabriel, Peter; Gerard, Lisa; Galas, Diamanda; God is My Co-Pilot
Hex; Harvey, Polly Jean; Heron, Gil Scott; Hitchcock, Robyn; Hawkwind
INXS; Infantino, Jim; Icehouse
Joy Division; Jesus and Mary Chain; Jane's Addiction
Killing Joke; King, Carole; Kletzermortim; Klezmatics; Keys, Alicia (I like her singing. Shut up)
Love; Lehrer, Tom; Linkin Park (because I find that short blond singer's wailing weirdly compelling); London After Midnight
Magnetic Fields; Ministry; My Bloody Valentine; MacColl, Kristie; Miranda Sex Garden; Meat Beat Manifesto
Nine Inch Nails (somewhat)
Opium Den; Opal, O'Connor. Sinead; One of Us; Outkast
P-Funk; Pogues; Pink Floyd; Pixies; The Pills; Public Image Ltd.; Pretty Things
Qntal (okay, never heard their stuff, but it's one band I thought of that fit the description)
Radiohead; Reflecting Skin
Scissorkiss, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Strawberry Switchblade; Skinny Puppy
The The; Throbbing Gristle; Tear Garden; Tool; Test Dept.; Talking Heads
Ultra Vivid Scene; Underworld; Ultramagnetic MCs
Velvet Underground, Violent Femmes
Waits, Tom; Williams, Rozz
X, Xmal Deutschland, XTC (the band, dammit!)
Yo La Tengo, You Shriek
Zappa, Frank (I haven't heard much Zorn to judge)
I've banned any more 'c' and 's' bands, which leaves out the Cocteau Twins, Coil, Current 93, Sex Gang Children, Sunshine Blind, Stiff Little Fingers and Savage Republic, among many freaking others. 'b's even more problematic, I am sure there are more bands I forgot entirely. And should I put in a band I admire more for production than every lyric they wrote (Public Enemy)? Or a band I do not like as much as I did (Sisters of Mercy)?
