Well, darn.
I went to a temp agency, after wandering around the Financial District. Hopefully, when I I am called for an interview, I can go to the company website and act like I know what I am doing, even though my eye contact needs work. I also need to call up the other temp agencies I applied to and look at monster.com and AT&T Broadband (thank you, Vulfel).
Wednesday is the day I interview at my old telemarketing job. I am pretty sure that I will work at least 2 weeks, but I am not sure how long I want to stay. After a long bout of pretty long hours during the holiday season, I did not want to work. I had already been fried, and I also had my last two quarters to think about. However, I knew I needed the money. Even that, however, did not make me want to work more than two hours at its worse.
I am recommitting myself to Spanish and LISP, then moving on to more unfamiliar languages. Contrary to what a lot of people think, learning lots of languages isn't really part of linguistics. What languages you learn depend on what subfield you're focusing on. Generally, knowing your native language and a second language pretty well if not fluently are the requirements. I picked a fairly well-known language since I studied it in high school and there are some text in Spanish. Psycholinguistics (which was what the department mostly focused on) tends to stay with current, fairly common languages.
But I also want to recommit myself to finishing that short story and some of the lost parts of the novel. I had bought some books at Wordsworth that might distract me from that.
