Feb. 6th, 2002 02:15 pmOne nice guy's lament and some unsubtle bashing at the things he just isn't admitting.
Unabridged original
I've acted like that guy writing the column. I've dated guys like the one who wrote the column. I've stared at okay looking, seemingly nice guys/girls who are dating someone other-than-me. I've been ignored by 'gorgeous' people staring at other 'gorgeous' people, wondering why the other is dating an 'asshole.'
If I rant about it, it will get disjointed, random and require the lj-cut tag, so I will summarize. 'Nice' means being honest, compassionate, and treating people like they're an equal. Expecting strokes for being that are nice, but if someone does it solely for that, it isn't, well, nice. This guy doesn't seem nice, especially when he isn't applying the same standards to the prospective girlfriend as he does to himself. In the meantime, get a hobby, being honest to why you are doing the things you do, and sometimes the line between nice and asshole is not so clearly defined.
